Ice Cream and the Dog Days of Summer
Mexican Chocolate with Cinnamon Chocolate Chip (drizzled with dark chocolate sea salt caramel sauce) |
Jeremy Bates is hosting a Dog Days of Summer Blogfest and I'm so in! The rules are to write about:
1) Describe your favorite summer activity thus far.
2) What activities do you plan before summer is over?
3) If you could have the ultimate vacation ever, where and what would it be?
So hop on over to Jeremy's site and check out all the summer fun happening over there for these couple of days.
This summer has been busier than usual for me. All filled with great and fantastic activities for my kids, learning new things, meeting new people and all things that summer is for, including at least one lemonade stand. But, my favorite summer activity so far has been anything involving my ice cream maker. I got it for Mother's Day and my freezer has been full ever since. I've always been an ice cream girl, but this summer that little activity has expanded exponentially. And it's been delicious! Maybe next summer I'll learn how to make the chocolate sauce too!
Ice cream... I've got a book recommendation for you: "The Perfect Scoop" by David Lebovitz. My wife has used it with great success. Our favorite is maple bacon ice cream, an author recommended twist on his maple nut recipe. Sounds weird, I know, but it's a slice (scoop?) of heaven.
ReplyDeleteYeah, ice cream. Don't we all love it?
ReplyDeleteYUM! What a great mother's day present and it's yummy fun for summer.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic idea! i think I'll have to get one of those, hehe :) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for buying BURNT OFFERINGS. My job as rare blood courier has been keeping me crazily busy these past 2 weeks! Flooding, power outages, etc. I hope you enjoyed the book ... at least the beautiful Leonora Roy illustrations within, Roland
ReplyDeleteWe are on a big frozen yogurt kick this summer. It's dangerous stuff :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Dog Days!
Wish I still ate ice cream. I miss homemade vanilla!
ReplyDeleteI cannot tell you how much I love ice-cream. Funnily enough I've never thought about buying an ice-cream maker ... until now!
ReplyDeleteHomemade ice cream is the best. Great summer memories where waiting for the ice cream to set and anticipating that taste.
ReplyDeleteI love homemade ice cream. The dog chewed the plastic latch off ours a couple years ago and I've not made any sense. Maybe I'll find one one clearance soon and make some of my own.Yummy.
ReplyDeleteFun post:)
I'd cut for some homemade, delicious ice cream! lol The quality in the Philippines is in no way approaching that of Canada or the USA. Quality ice cream has to be bought in the mall and costs a small fortune for a meager scoop.
ReplyDeleteI wish Fed Ex had a frozen delivery system so I could beg you on wounded hands and knees for some! lol
Enjoy the summer!
How funny, I also got a ice cream maker for Mother's Day. LOL! Isn't it fantastic? We have dairy goats so we make lots of ice cream. Vanilla and blueberry seems to be the favorite with the kids. Enjoy your ice cream!
ReplyDeleteYou can't go wrong with ice cream! We love the stuff, probably a little too much. Good thing we like swimming to bur those calories off.
ReplyDeleteThat ice cream dish looks so delicious! An ice cream maker in my hands would be dangerous--for many reasons.
ReplyDeleteMmm...that looks good.
ReplyDeleteI used to love making our own ice cream! Enjoy!
