Perfect Picture Books- Stuck
Written and Illustrated by: Oliver Jeffers
Published by Philomel Books, 2011
Suitable for: Ages 3 and up
Theme/Topics: Problem solving, humor, chain reactions
Overview/Synopsis: From the publisher: "When Floyd's kite gets stuck in a tree, he tries to knock it down with increasingly larger and more outrageous things." The story continues with Floyd becoming very creative about ways to get his kite down. When it finally comes down, he has this nagging feeling that he's forgotten something. What could he have forgotten?
Activities: Ask kids how they would get something out that is stuck in a tree. I bet there could be some very funny responses from that one.
Why I Chose This Book: I went to the library looking for two other books, and stumbled up on this one. Considering the amount of items that have ended up in the trees in my back yard, and the various items and methods used to try to remove said items, this books seems like it could have been written by one of my own kids. Enjoy!
